Terrence Deal and Allan Kennedy showed in their classic text
"Corporate Cultures: The Rites and Rituals of Corporate Life"
(1982) four important determinents.
- Values - Basic concepts and beliefs. These do have
a direct relationship to a company's mission/goals.
- Role Models - The core group of employees who reflect the values
of the company.
- Rites and Rituals - Existing routine behavior guides. This also
determines a reward system and how it can be implemented.
- Culture Network - Working with a network to get things done.
In addition, many organizational leaders come to realize that the
creative ideas and alternatives which employees directly bring from
their work - life satisfaction environment will determine their
company's business success. (see FAQ question
