Diana
Ward Collins, R.N., M.S.N.
Diana has over forty years of healthcare
experience in a variety of settings throughout the United
States ranging from hospitals, long-term care, ambulatory
services and home health. She has functioned clinically
in a variety of settings as well as having served in management
and administrative leadership roles. She obtained
her undergraduate and graduate degrees in nursing from George
Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. As adjunct
faculty for 12 years, Diana taught undergraduate and graduate
courses in Healthcare Administration / Management, Communications,
Negotiation, Healthcare Law and Ethics, Business Ethics,
and Data Based Decision Making. She has published
numerous articles in professional nursing journals and presented
healthcare and conflict management programs locally and
nationally.
As an early member of the community
based Jefferson County Mediation Services in Golden, Colorado,
she was awarded "Mediator of the Year" in 1997
and 1998. She recently served as a board member and
Vice President of Colorado Council of Mediators and Mediation
Organizations. Over the years, she has served in leadership
positions for other professional nursing organizations.
Diana founded The Legal Nurse Network
providing medical-legal consulting services. In addition
she subsequently founded LLN Mediation providing mediation
services to private parties / organizations, US Post Office
and various other state and federal agencies. Her
focus with mediation services are in diverse areas related
to legal / ethical healthcare issues, EEO complaints, employer
/ employee disputes, family, and elder issues / transgenerational
conflict. She is an associate member with Dispute
Resolution Professionals Inc. located in Golden, Colorado.
Stewart Gabel, M.D.
Over 30 years experience in health,
mental health and substance abuse treatment settings, having
held numerous leadership positions, and been personally
responsible for the development, turnaround and transition
of several health, mental health, or substance abuse treatment
programs. For nearly ten years, he served as Chairman
of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavior Sciences, The
Children's Hospital, Denver during a rapid transition and
change in health and mental healthcare delivery programs.
Instrumental in the development of a mental health subdivision
(Access Behavioral Care) of a managed care company, serving
as Chairman of the Management Council, administered mental
health services under a capitated funding arrangement for
the City and County of Denver. Stewart is author of
nearly 100 publications in organizational, health, mental
health, and substance abuse areas, including a recent book
on leadership and organizational change. Recognized presenter
on numerous areas at national & international meetings.
Board Certification in General, Child and Adolescent
Psychiatry, and in Pediatrics. Accomplished psychiatrist,
psychotherapist. At present, he is an organizational
consultant for the Children's Hospital, Denver, and in the
past he has been Director of various children's clinics
in New York and the State of Virginia. During the
years 1992 to 2003, he became Professor of Psychiatry and
Pediatrics, University of Colorado
School of Medicine.
Phyllis S. Kreinik,
Ph.D.
Phyllis is a licensed psychologist and
a Diplomate in Clinical Psychology, awarded by the American
Board of Professional Psychology. She received her A.B.
degree with distinction in psychology from Cornell University
and her Ph.D. from Duke University. After working with Drs.
Robert Blake and Jane Mouton and the “Managerial Grid Concept”
Phyllis pioneered the development of numerous organizational
workshops which included team development, decision making,
conflict management, and organizational self- assessment.
Phyllis served as the Chief of Psychology at Fort
Logan Mental Hospital, Denver, Colorado and as a Professor
at the University of Denver’s Doctor of Psychology degree
program. During Phyllis’ tenure at the University of Denver
she directed a continuing education program for all mental
health personnel in Colorado and taught courses in
group dynamics , late adulthood (65+), research in schizophrenia,
professional issues, trauma, and women’s issues. Phyllis
is recently retired after 26 years at DU, and currently
works as a consultant in the healthcare industry.
Jo-Marie Lisa, J.D.,
M.A.
J.D., Western State University College
of Law, Fullerton, California, 1976. M.A., Politicial
Science, California State University, Fullerton, California,
1984. Nationally recognized trainer in areas of conflict
management, mediation and negotiation. Former Labor
& Employee Relations Manager for U.S.Department Defense,
1978-1984. Labor Relations Manager for T.V., NBC
affiliate, Burbank, CA 1984-1989. Human Resources
Director for Rocky Flats, Golden, CO, 1990-1994. Business
owner for conflict management, consulting, healthcare issues,
and mediation and arbitration services, 1994-present. Adjunct
Faculty member, University of Denver, Regis University,
U.S.D.A. Graduate School teaching Mediation, Conflict Resolution,
and Negotiation. Professional Associations include Colorado
Council of Mediators: Former Statewide Vice Presicent and
Member of B.O.D.; Association for Conflict Resolution, Trainer-consultant
level and Colorado Human Resources Association. Professional

Richard Stacy, J.D.
Retired prosecutor and judge. Richard
was admitted to the bar by examination in both Wyoming and
Colorado in 1967. He served as Assistant Attorney
General for the state of Wyoming and as Assistant United
States Attorney in the late 60's and early 70's. He
was in the private practice of law as a general practitioner
until 1981. He played a major role in the siting and
permitting of a state-of-the-art 1,500 megawatt, $1.5 billion
coal fired power plant. In 1981, he was appointed
by President Reagan to be United States Attorney for Wyoming.
He was re-appointed by President Bush I, and served
in that position for 13 years.
During his tenure as United States Attorney,
in addition to compiling an admirable record as Wyoming's
chief federal prosecutor and law enforcement officer, he
served 4 years on the Attorney General's Advisory Committee
of U.S. Attorneys. He handled a great deal of civil
litigation on behalf of the United States, including cases
involving complex medical material. He completed his
career by serving 5 years as U.S. Administrative Law Judge
in San Jose, California for the Social Security Administration.
During this period he spent thousands of hours pursuing
medical files and presided over approximately 2,400 medical
disability and Medicare hearings. These hearings involved
the disposition of about $250 million in federal funds.
Jerome Wilensky, M.D.
Jerry maintained a private medical practice
specializing in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Disease
for 43 years. He served as a Chief Medical Resident at National
Jewish Hospital, Denver, Colorado and as a Clinical Instructor
in Internal Medicine at the University of Colorado Health
Science Center. Jerry was the founding president of the
Colorado Union of Physicians and Surgeons and served in
that capacity for 4 years. In addition he has lectured throughout
the United States for 10 years on the topic of "Corporate
Stress and Healthy Medical Lifestyles”. Currently Jerry
is a member of the Colorado Council of Mediators and is
a volunteer mediator with the Jefferson County Mediation
Service. He is trained in mediation at the University
of Denver and Bear Wolf Mediation Services, Inc. Jerry
was presented with a Mediatior of the Year Award by the
Jefferson County Mediation Services on August 31, 2004.

Fredrick R. Abrams M.D.
FACOG, DABOG
Fredrick retired in 1996 after 42 years
of active medical practice. In 2003, he was presented
with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Center for Bioethics
and Humanities from the Colorado Health Sciences Center. His
study of bioethics began in 1976 with a grant from The National
Endowment for the Humanities. In 1983, he became the
founder and director of the first community hospital based
center for study and teaching of bioethics at the center for
Applied Biomedical Ethics at Rose Medical Center in Denver,
Colorado. The center, CABE, provided the training in
the 1980s for all the original Colorado hospital ethics committees.
He served on the American College of Obstetricians and
Gynecologists National Ethics Committee, chairing from 1987
to 1990. Fredrick teaches Biomedical Ethics at University
of Colorado Health Science Center, Denver University, Iliff
School of Theology, various adult education programs and area
hospitals. He was the founding Executive Director of
the Colorado Governor’s Commission on Life and the Law. Currently,
he is Director of the Clinical Ethics Consultation Group and
an Associate Medical Director of the Colorado Foundation for
Medical Care.
Joel Edelman
J.D.
Joel has over 40 years of experience serving
in executive and legal positions for the healthcare industry.
He is highly qualified in areas involving public policy
formation having served as Director of the Illinois Department
of Public Aid and having provided senior leadership as President
and Chief Executive Officer of Rose Medical Center which is
one of Denver’s most prestigious acute care hospitals. Joel
has consulted with leading academic medical centers in the
areas of strategic and facilities planning, and for management
and health services department. He has been appointed
to university faculty positions throughout his career and
served in a leadership capacity for numerous civic and charitable
organizations. Joel was appointed by former Governor
Richard Lamm to chair a task force to review the facilities
management systems deployed by the State’s mental health programs.
He also was appointed by former Governor Roy Romer to
the State of Colorado’s Job Training Coordinating Council
and by current Governor Bill Owens to the Blue Ribbon Task
Force established to set a strategy for the state’s preparedness
for the Y2K conversion. Joel consults for the MAARSS group
in the hospital sector of the healthcare industry.
Stephen S. Kalat Ph.D.
Obtained his Ph.D. in counseling from
the American University, Washington, D.C. in 1970. Subsequent
postgraduate training at the National Academy of Neuropsychology,
University of Denver, Albert Einstein College of Medicine
and the International Neuropsychological Society. He has served
in various leadership capacities including President, B.O.D.
member, Vice President and Chairman of various psychological
societies. His areas of experience include that of consulting
neuropsychologist in Colorado from 1994 through 1999. Also
as Director of various psychological services in the Denver
area from 1990 through 1992. He has also been associated with
the treatment of Adolescent Psychiatric, Alcoholism, Adult
alcoholism, vocational rehab program for the disabled and
crisis intervention. At present his skill areas include Psychological
and Neuropsychological Evaluations , treatment of reactions
to pain, injury, illness, post traumatic stress disorder,
closed head injury, depression and anxiety.
James Mitchell
Jim has been involved in safety and worker’s
compensation issues for over 15 years. He is a Senior
Loss Safety Consultant with Lockton Insurance Company. His
current focus is Safety Audits, Drug Testing, and Workers
Compensation issues. In addition, Jim is currently responsible
for all construction at Adams 12 Schools Bond project. He
frequently represents clients for worker’s compensation issues
involving OSHA standards, Code of Federation (CFR) 1926 and
1910. He was responsible for contractors’ work on the
Denver Public School 1998 Bond project. Jim worked with
M.A. Mortenson Construction from 1989-1992. While at
Mortenson he was the safety director for Denver International
Airport, Coors Field, the Pepsi Center, Winter Park Ski Resort,
and Keystone Ski Resort. Jim received his A.A. from
Saint Mary’s College of Liberal Arts and his BS in Business
Administration from Regis University and Phoenix University
in Denver, Colorado. He is the owner of MGM Safety Specialties
Inc. a company providing safety training, personnel, and incentives.
Ralph Pollock
Ralph is a National healthcare
consultant with extensive and diversified public policy, strategic
planning, facilitation and speaking experience in the healthcare
industry. This has included negotiating high-level partnerships
and agreements, facilitating corporate/board retreats and
meetings, and delivering education forums for community groups,
legislators, employers and healthcare organizations. From
1991 to the present, his positions have included: President
of Metronet, Inc., Denver Colorado; Director, Center for Health
Ethics and Policy, University of Colorado; Adjunct Faculty,
University of Denver; and Principal, AP Group, Denver, Colorado
addressing diverse issues related to management, leadership,
business development and community education. He is
a Senior Health Systems Consultant to IBM. From 1970
through 1991, Mr. Pollock served as a Healthcare Director,
Clinical Professor, President, Executive Director, CEO, Adjunct
Faculty at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Principal
Healthcare Consultant at multiple Commissions, agencies, Business
Coalitions, and Faculty in Washington, D.C., Raleigh, N.C.,
and Hartford, CT. He is a graduate of Ohio State University,
Medical College of Virginia, University of North Carolina,
and Mexico State College. His current Boards/ Affiliations
include Colorado association of Commerce and Industry, Business
Coalition for Health Care Competition, Colorado Workman's
Compensation Coalition, Chairman of B.O.D., Rocky Mountain
Center for Health Care Ethics and Colorado Bar Association,
Alternative Dispute Resolution Subcommittee plus other groups.
Jon Wampler
Jon started his career in the healthcare
industry working with one of the nation’s largest Emergency
Department physician staffing companies. From that early
management position in operations and sales he moved to Denver
to initiate and develop the MetLife Healthcare Network of
Colorado serving as Vice President of Marketing and Vice President-
Board of Directors. Jon than became Executive Director
of the Humana Health Care Plans of Colorado where his leadership
resulted in an increased premium revenue stream from $3.1
million to $5.45 million and reduced administrative overhead
by 12%. Jon then moved to Texas taking a position in
PacifiCare Health Systems functioning as President and Chief
Executive Officer of the Southwest Region followed by a move
to California as the President and Chief Executive Officer
of California and Vice President, of the Western Region-PacifiCare
Health system. Jon worked extensively with Public Affairs,
physicians, and Senior Management to tailor corporate/industry
messages to legislators and senior government officials to
enhance the public image of HMOs. Jon consults to and
is a strategic planner for the MAARSS group
in the HMO sector of the healthcare industry.
John (Jay) Wright
Jay has extensive experience with Employee
Benefit programs starting in 1973. He has worked for
large national companies within the insurance industry serving
as an Employee Benefit Sales Representative and also helped
with opening new offices in the southeast. He has functioned
as a Regional Vice President for Great West Life Assurance
Company and participated in the development of a successful
joint venture with Great West and New England Health Insurance,
which converted significant losses into over $300 million
dollars in major profits. Jay served as the President
of the New England Employee Benefits Group. Most recently,
Jay served as Senior Vice President of Employee Benefits in
Denver, Colorado.
